Hanslope Primary School - Yr 5 & 6 Football Reports
Wednesday 24th November
Match 1 v Middleton Score 1 – 1
Hanslope started well dominating the match with an early shot on goal from Jack Herring, unfortunately saved by the opposition’s keeper. Nick Sumner picked up the ball from the Middleton attackers and had an amazing run up the pitch, dodging the opposition and finishing this super independent run off with a fantastic goal. Unfortunately just before half time, Hanslope heads, dipped and a Middleton forward managed to equalise.
The second half was rather dull in comparison with neither side playing any significant football.
Match 2 v Heronsgate Score 1 – 4
Outclassed in the first half Hanslope never really stood a chance, finding themselves 3-0 down at half time, unfortunately the defence left a few gaps as they tried to push forward.
Second half was a different story. Hanslope picked themselves up and were the better team. Nick Sumner had a few good runs resulting in a goal, plus a number of further shots on goal, hitting the cross bar and another one being saved.

Match 1 v Willen Score 7 – 0
A difficult match. Hanslope were outclassed from the start. It came to light that the Willen team had been training and playing together as a unit for over 12 months. The Hanslope boys, together as a team for the first time, lacked shape, fitness and knowledge of each other’s skills.
Arthur Britnell started in goal and was met with many attempts on goal from the opposition with 3 being successfully scored.
At half time Faris replaced Arthur and gallantly fended off the torrent of attempts only letting two in. Unfortunately, he was caught out by his own defenders and two own goals were scored.
For the majority of the match the Hanslope boys were trying to defend but were generally outclassed by the opposition.
Match 2 v Southwood Score 2 – 0
A much better game for Hanslope despite losing again. Faris played admirably in goal. The team used more of the pitch, trying to pass out wider and give themselves more time and opportunity to play the ball. In the first half the whole team played much better unfortunately losing out in the dying moments to a mistake in defence which left the attacking opposition with lots of space and time.
In the second half play continued in a similar vain with the defence pushing up trying to apply pressure and support the forwards. Unfortunately, this left the defence vulnerable as they were often too far forward and not communicating therefore leaving the goal open when the opposition had the ball and making it harder for Faris to defend the goal.
The team consisted of: Jack Herring, Liam Phillips, Arthur Britnell, Luke Holes, Faris Ahmad, Patrick Forster, George Beesley, Dominic Santos Bravo, Joseph King and Charlie Garratt
Hanslope football team has potential with training, support and guidance.
